About me
Hello! I’m
Katrina Buchanan.
I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and I’ve been making art since the second grade. These days I live in Virginia, where I work as a curator at a fine art gallery.
I began by teaching myself and have kept that practice going for well over a decade. I’m currently pursuing my Master of Fine Arts, and I plan to teach after I graduate.

The drawing isn’t
the first step.
My work starts long before I pick up a stylus or pencil.
I begin with ideas and research, then work through the design before committing to a final image. Going into a project with a clear direction helps me make something that feels specific, considered, and genuinely its own.
I work primarily in digital media, but oil painting and sculpting still shape how I think about light, color, and form.
